Tarot is almost synonymous with fortune telling, so if you tell people you don’t use Tarot to predict the future, they actually wonder what you do! So, let me explain why I don’t choose to predict the future for anyone.
The future is not set in stone
I think that it is important for people to understand that the future is not solid. It is very fluid, and every decision you make can change your future. As tempting as it is to ask for some kind of solid future prediction, it is not helpful to do so.
Many people believe that they don’t have any say in what is coming, and that is a very disempowering attitude. The truth is that we have the power to create the future we want by making different choices, by doing our inner work, or by changing our frequency.
So, what is the point of predicting a future that can be changed so easily? There is, however, one type of readings where future predictions can be useful, and that is if you want to compare the outcome of different choices. We can ask questions like: “What will happen if I choose this option?” “Or, what happens if I choose this other option?”
If you do this kind of reading, it can be helpful to look at different futures, so they can discover what options that can lead to the most beneficial outcome. But, in this case, we are looking at options that will help you make decisions in the now. We always have to relate what we are doing to the now, because it is always now…
A friend of mine always used to ask readers: “When is my soulmate coming?” And they would predict which month, or sometimes even which week he would be likely to show up. And she got disappointed time and time again, and eventually got really depressed about it.
When people ask me this, I always give them the same answer. He comes when you are ready. So, if he isn’t here yet, let’s see where you are at, and how you are stopping it from happening, or what your spirit guides want you to know about the situation, or what is in your highest interest. So, I formulate questions in the now about the issue they want in the future. That way, they have something they can work on while they are waiting and preparing for the reality that they want to manifest.
So, I recommend, to students who are serious about Tarot, to strive to become a sincere Tarot consultant, instead of a party trick fortune teller. The choice is yours, of course, but personally, I believe it is more helpful when people fully understand the NOW, rather than focusing too much on the future…
